Description
Summary:The posed research was carried out in "Syria" poultry farm, located at the Mocochal site of the Bolívar canton. The objective of the study was to estimate the carbon footprint of the poultry activity generated on the farm for a proper environmental management, is conducted an audit in situ in order to know the environmental findings generated by the activities of each process. We also identified sources of of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), issued by the poultry activities; the estimation of these emissions was the IPCC Inventory Software version 2.54, valued environmental findings that generate emissions, by means of the criticality matrix that allowed to propose measures of mitigation through strategies of Environmental management. The main sources of greenhouse gas emissions identified in the poultry were: food production, transportation of products, the generation of excreta and ambience of warehouses. Once estimated emission sources, it was determined that the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) generated in the study area is of 787397,542 KgCO2, corresponding to June 2016 value - June 2017. It should be noted, that the amount of emissions generated by each hen is 31,62 KgCO2 approximately. It is important to know and understand the dynamics of the Greenhouse Gases, so that they can implement measures aimed at the reduction of atmospheric emissions, and at the same time encourage the efficient use of the different resources that are responsible of the generation of greenhouse gases.
