Yhteenveto: | The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate the concentration of mercury in water and sediment and its probable effect on aquatic life, in the Carrizal of the cantón Bolívar River, province of Manabí, in order to evaluate the contamination existing in said river. In this study nine sampling stations were established, located in the sites of La Esperanza, Quiroga, Barranco Colorado, Measles, Mata Palo, Los Almendros, San Bartolo, La Karina and El Limón, according to the provisions of the "Monitoring Protocol of the Quality of Water Resources "(2016), from the national water authority of Peru, where water and sediment samples were taken in each geo-referenced place, during the months of February, March and April. This research is non-experimental quantitative and the analyzes were conducted in the environment laboratory of the ESPE (Polytechnic School of the Army), where they were made by spectrophotometry of cold vapor atomic absorption with generation of hydrides, in which were obtained the following results: Mercury in surface water where the maximum and minimum results were in the month of February of 2,105 ppm in station # 1 and station # 5 was 0.062 ppm, in March and April which were between 0.246 0.094 ppm. Mercury in sediments was from 1,157 mg / L to 0,080 mg / L in the aforementioned months, which were compared with the values established in the Ecuadorian environmental legislation (Ministerial Agreement No. 061), for surface water and for sediment the international standard Canadian Sediment Quality Guidelines for the Protection of Aquatic Life, which allowed to conclude that anthropogenic activities generate Hg contamination in the Carrizal River caused mainly by agricultural activities, which causes occasional biological effects for aquatic life, thus affecting water quality at different times of the year. |
