| Gaia: | In the present work a Hammer Grab was completely designed, a machine which purpose is to remove material from ground to form a vertical tunnel allowing casting foundation piles for structures. Design process stages were applied, starting from a set of specifications until the definitive design. Each stage was assisted by the Autodesk Inventor software, which accelerated and facilitated the process in various ways to achieve the stated objective. The problem to be solved was identified and all needed information was gathered in order to establish design requirements and restrictions. Then, alternative solutions were presented to satisfy the need and the most suitable one was chosen while considering various criteria. With the selected alternative, we proceeded to give it a definitive shape. A kinematic chain was designed to allow the movement required by the machine, considering the required forces and geometry of the mechanism. Then we started the detailed design of parts and components through engineering calculations and the software’s finite element analysis. Having the definitive design, a set of drawings of the machine and the assembly of its parts was elaborated. Finally, a cost analysis is presented. |
