Dinero alternativo: pautas para la gestión de una economía social y solidaria desde lo local

This research focuses on the study of the phenomenon of complementary currencies, social-local type, and the advantages from its application, not only in terms of material wealth, but also of human development. First chapter focuses on the development of an integral reading of money, making an interdisciplinary approach, and establishing the relationship between the currency and capitalist relations of power. The second chapter focuses on the study of modern monetary systems, structural problems and its influence on the operating mode of the contemporary market economies. The third chapter deals with the relationship between community currencies (CC) and its potential contributions on issues such as local development, strengthening the popular and solidarity economy sector, reducing regional disparities, socio-economic inclusion and humanizing the economy. Finally, the fourth chapter is part of the Ecuadorian case, addressing the issue of territorial disparities at credit level and possible uses of the CC to achieve more balanced development patterns, geographically, and mechanisms for safeguarding dollarization.
