Propuesta metodológica para identificar potenciales procesos de gentrificación por alojamientos informales. El caso de AIRBNB en Quito urbano al 2030

Technological advances in the Global Village have transformed Latin American metropolises. New territorial structures and dynamics have been generated, influenced by technological innovation. These trends are influenced by the principles of neoliberal economics, the shared and individualistic economy, as well as the focus on competitiveness. In large cities, it has been seen how the AIRBNB accommodation service promotes processes of touristification and gentrification, understood as processes of transformation and urban renewal of an area into a tourist destination. The objective of this paper is to analyze to what extent the AIRBNB informal accommodation service promotes gentrification processes in the territorial heterogeneity of urban Quito with a time horizon of 2030. The methodology used was spatial analysis and MIC MAC structural analysis, with the intervention of experts in urban planning and representatives of the public sector to identify which are the key variables that could have an influence in the medium term with the informal AIRBNB accommodation that accentuate the processes of gentrification in the territorial heterogeneity of urban Quito. The identification of the pessimistic scenario will allow decision makers to be alert and anticipate unwanted situations by executing strategic actions in the present.
