| Summary: | The present work entitled "The right of refuge in Ecuador (2010-2020): an analysis of the Colombian female refugee population in the city of Esmeraldas", constitutes a qualitative research, from the perspective of International Relations, where the role of Human Rights and the right to shelter of people in human mobility from a gender perspective. The study seeks to recognize the value of international law linked to migration processes, paying special attention to the case of the community of Colombian women displaced from their territory due to armed conflicts, drug trafficking, poverty and insecurity in the second decade of the 21st century. The analysis focuses on the province of Esmeraldas, Ecuador. In this framework, collaboration agreements between international cooperation organizations, the Ecuadorian State, municipalities and local authorities in charge of human mobility are studied. It is assumed as a research question what impact has the Ecuadorian refugee right had on the Colombian female refugee population in the city of Esmeraldas? 2020, with an emphasis on the Colombian female population as a refugee present in the city of Esmeraldas. A qualitative study is presented that incorporates the phenomenological design, with the intention of recognizing the value of the experiences lived by twenty (20) Colombian refugee women who were interviewed and whose testimonies give an account of an experience that undresses their difficult reality. The data collection process and the established analysis have allowed us to conclude that the current state of the problem raised is part of a complex process, where the subjectivity and significance of migrant women are present. The initial immersion in the field has made it possible to explore the migratory phenomenon from another angle: gender, admitting how the perception of the refugee population focuses on the demand for guarantees of their rights and refers to circumstances surrounding significant experiences in the current global context. |
