| Summary: | The current research work studied policies for strengthening teaching work in online education, at the Institute “Altos Estudios Nacionales” during the 2020 year. This is because of the pandemic’s effects caused by the COVID-19, which in education caused teachers to face new challenges worldwide. Teachers’ work has been regulated by external and internal policies, which effects are related to different topics such as institutional conditions, ICT training, and teaching experience. Thus, in the public policies issued by the “Consejo de Educacion Superior (CES)” for the development of teaching management, as activities in Higher Educational Institutions (IES) of Ecuador, a transitional regulation was issued, which includes four articles related to online education. Likewise, implementing institutional policies for the development of the teaching process in the IAEN was developed in seven stages, starting with the identification of processes to be improved, virtual modification, updating of guidelines, teaching, research, management, and relationship with society. As stated above, the processes of formulation and implementation of those policies were observed during the change to online education because of confinement as the health emergency COVID-19 progressed in that institution. In this way, the study used a qualitative approach, descriptive scope, and exploratory level, through a documentary review complemented by the interview; it was created semantic relationships which allowed to find out series and characteristics of frequency. As result of this research, it was observed that internal policies within the IAEN partially strengthen the practice of the use of technological tools by teachers, because their perception of them the health emergency COVID-19 explored the importance of creating a collaborative work environment and critical thinking, where different tools have been implemented to create effective digital environments within the institution. It was concluded that both in the IAEN and many universities, education was never used purely virtual or online, but the application of emergency remote teaching (ERE), in different ways, forced to implement policies to strengthen teaching; a situation that has determined the need to strengthen the work of teachers in online education, facing a scenario that poses new challenges, and requiring concrete actions towards quality education. |
