| Sumario: | Throughout history, man, in his eagerness to find resources that allow him to survive, has had contact with the sea, which he has used as a means of commercial exchange, for the dissemination of culture, for research, and even to expand their spaces in other lands and thus maintain their power, among other jobs, which constitute crucial elements for the development and well-being of the peoples. Faced with this vision, some peoples or nations understood that they should control the seas, well, for which they developed what is known as Maritime Power, which is understood from the Geopolitical point of view, as the capacity that a nation possesses to exploit, create and defend the interests that a country has in the sea. Capacity that requires two important components, Naval Power and Maritime Interests. Based on the above, this research proposes to analyze the concept and dimensions of the Maritime Power, as well as the limits in the capacity of the Ecuadorian State to use that Maritime Power, in order to take advantage of the sea for the benefit of the country to achieve national goals. |
