Objetivo: diseñar un sistema de acciones didáctico-metodológicas para lograr un aprendizaje significativo y desarrollador desde la asignatura Microbiología en la carrera de Medicina. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en la Universidad de Guayaquil, República de Ecuador, en el periodo comprendido de mayo a agosto de 2016. Se emplearon como métodos teóricos: sistémico, histórico-lógico y análisis-síntesis, y empíricos: análisis documental, encuesta en forma de cuestionario a estudiantes y de entrevista a expertos; y matemáticos para los valores absolutos y relativos. Resultados: se constató que en el proceso enseñanza aprendizaje de Microbiología aún existe tendencia a la enseñanza memorística, lo cual se refleja en la evaluación. Los alumnos reconocieron presentar inseguridad al identificar las invariantes, dificultades al aplicar los conocimientos a nuevas situaciones problémicas y les resultaba complejo establecer relaciones y realizar resúmenes, copiaban textualmente lo expresado por el docente o de sus presentaciones, por lo que se elaboraron acciones didáctico-metodológicas para lograr un aprendizaje significativo y desarrollador acorde con las exigencias contemporáneas en el siglo XXI.
