Por estas razones surge la necesidad de una investigación en torno a este tema para poder ayudar a minimizar estos problemas y así mejorar la imagen corporativa de la empresa. Para conseguir estos objetivos la presente investigación trata del desarrollo de software para la gestión de historias clínicas odontológicas, que permitirán tener salvaguardada el activo más importante de los centros odontológicos, la información de los pacientes, además de contar con la capacidad de poder administrarla de mejor manera. Además esto permitirá reducir espacio físico que ocupan los grandes archivadores y gavetas. En cuanto al diseño y arquitectura de software se utilizó el modelo de tres capas con una metodología RAD. El framework utilizado fue Omnis Studio, que a su vez provee una amigable y poderosa interfaz para realizar aplicaciones en entornos web y el manejador de base de datos fue MySQL en su versión 5.5.24.
