Description
Résumé:The research focused on analyzing digital journalistic platforms as a business model in Otavalo. For this, five platforms with higher ratings were selected in the canton: Apak Tv, OTV Televisión, Sarance Visión, Dialogando con Ximena, and El Blog de Jorge Martínez. This topic was chosen because it is relevant for journalism to identify the opportunities existing digital media have when used as a source of income. The methodological design was configured using a quantum-qualitative approach that allowed the highlighting of the characteristics of the platforms mentioned above. To achieve this, a content analysis was conducted and interviews were conducted. This allowed us to understand how each digital medium develops in the journalistic field, the frequent items they handle in their publications, and the evolution they have had in the social network Facebook since its creation. For the information collection, reference was made to the first 15 days of May 2023\; the corpus of the research consisted of 235 publications of the five platforms, in addition to the five interviews conducted with their owners. Preliminary results show that the business model of journalistic platforms depends on the use made of social networks. That is, if you have advertising guidelines, coverage services, or forms of monetization since its content mostly focuses on local issues. Thanks to audience acceptance, these platforms have managed to stay afloat in the market.
