description The objective of this study was to develop a design proposal for a temazcal in the Tabla Chupa location in the Intag area, Imbabura province, to promote health tourism. The research question posed was whether a situational diagnosis of the tourist attractions in the Intag area would allow knowing the culture, traditions and medicinal plants existing in the area. The methodology used was mixed, the characteristics of the temazcales and their impact on health were described, as well as the structure and ceremonial practice. In addition, surveys will be applied to a sample of the population, and the results will be tabulated and presented in statistical tables and graphs. The results of the study revealed that the Intag area has a valuable cultural heritage, deep-rooted traditions and a wide diversity of medicinal plants, which can be used as important tourist attractions. Intag's cultural and natural wealth provides a unique opportunity to attract those interested in experiencing local culture and taking advantage of the healing properties of medicinal plants. The profile of the tourist interested in health tourism in Intag is characterized mainly by being young adults, both national and foreign, seeking new experiences, adventure, leisure and recreation. Tourists recognize the importance of taking advantage of the region's natural resources and value temazcales as an option to take care of their health and well-being, especially after the pandemic. This trend offers opportunities for sustainable economic development in the area, promoting people's health and contributing to local socioeconomic growth. In addition, the feasibility of implementing the temazcal will be broken, with a net present value (VAN) of 31,086.35 and an investment of 70,378.35.
