Gaia:The social reintegration programs with penitentiary benefits at the Social Rehabilitation Center of Ibarra are designed around different axes. Five of the most important axes were addressed: labor, education, health, social and family, and community work. It is essential to highlight the general objective, as it has helped identify whether the established objectives are being achieved and, if not, to formulate recommendations and proposals aimed at strengthening their performance. Each of these axes is articulated with a program that has been detailed within the research, all of which aim to facilitate the reintegration of individuals deprived of liberty into society. A mixed methodological approach was used, integrating both qualitative and quantitative components. In the qualitative analysis, the social reintegration programs were explored and the main axes involved were examined. On the other hand, in the quantitative analysis, detailed figures about the participants in these programs were collected, providing numerical data. A descriptive research level was employed to detail the characteristics of the programs, the conditions of the participants, and the observed results. Additionally, the socio-legal method was used to explore the topic from legal and sociological perspectives, analyzing public programs aligned with their axes and exploring the perception of the individuals deprived of liberty. Detailed information was collected about the programs and axes provided in the center, as well as the perceptions and experiences of the prison population through document review techniques, interviews, and surveys. Deficiencies in the effectiveness of the programs to generate positive changes in the lives of the participants were revealed, highlighting the need for a thorough and prosperous review in the management of the programs. Moreover, it was observed that the lack of resources and support hinders the proper implementation of improvement measures and the execution of educational and labor programs, which obstructs the rehabilitation and social reintegration process.
