Crynodeb:The cultivation of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) within the Ecuadorian territory is constituted as a crop of great economic, social and nutritional importance. It is a key factor for production with good yields in areas where irrigation water is available, which is why in order to reduce the consumption of water resources in this type of crop, a controlled deficit irrigation trial was established, in which it was studied the effect of the application of four irrigation sheets being the treatments applied (Treatment 4 irrigation at 100% control, Treatment 1 irrigation at 75%, Treatment 2 irrigation at 50%, Treatment 3 irrigation at 25%) according to frequency and time calculated at agroclimatic conditions of the Tulquizán sector, Juan Montalvo parish, Cantón Mira, province of Carchi, with a sandy loam texture soil with water stress control regulated by a soil moisture meter evaluated in the phenological stages of watermelon cultivation\; growth, vegetative, flowering and fruiting on the yield of the watermelon crop the experiment was established in the field applying a completely random experimental design, in addition the variables were evaluated: days to harvest and yield in the different treatments, polar diameter of the fruit, diameter equator of the fruit, weight of the harvested fruit, total solids (°Brix). Significant statistical differences were found between treatments in the variables of total solids (°Brix), in the irrigations applied to the crop T4 0.30 min. T1 22.5 min. T2 15 min. T3 7.5 min. With a raw sheet of 6.75 mm. at a relative humidity of 40 to 50 to obtain the maximum yield in the crop.
