Achoimre:In the Turucucho community of the Cayambe canton and in the Quichinche parish of the Otavalo canton, the ecological status of the white beetle (Platycoelia lutescens) was evaluated in order to establish the population change of the species and its factors that influence it. 53 surveys were carried out for the community of Turucucho and 90 for the parish of Quichinche to evaluate the ecological status of the species under study, as well as a multitemporal analysis of land use for the years 2000 and 2023, obtaining as a result that if there is a notorious change in terms of abundance according to the perception of those surveyed with 70% in Turucucho and 56% in Quichinche, it was also identified that the amounts of collection decreased compared to previous years with a collection of 150 to 3000 beetles and currently from 150 to 600 beetles in Quichinche , it was possible to determine relevant data within this investigation, given that in the community of Turucucho the inhabitants collect the beetles in the month of January. With the multitemporal analysis it was obtained that there is a growth of urban area and use of agricultural land that directly affects the loss of habitat of the species. With this, two conservation and management strategies were established aimed at protecting the beetle in its wild state and conserving the cultural and ancestral knowledge of indigenous peoples who have included them in the diet over the years, generating a source of income. and a possible venture with the establishment of hatcheries.
