description The main objective of this research project was to determine the urban birdlife that is located in the main parks in the city center of the Ibarra canton, Imbabura province in Ecuador. The sighting dates were determined from September 2019, until December 2019\; in the five investigated parks: La Familia de Yacucalle Park, German Grijalva Park, La Merced Park, Pedro Moncayo Park, San Agustín Park, the technique of fixed observation points was applied. In each sighting made, the bird species were registered in a field file, to be later identified with the help of a field guide of Birds of Ecuador, a total of 27 species identified in the La Familia de Yacucalle park were obtained, 10 species identified in the German Grijalva Park, 10 species identified in the La Merced park, 11 species identified in the Pedro Moncayo park and 4 species identified in the San Agustín park\; in total these species belong to 22 families, and are grouped into 9 orders: Columbioformes, Passeriformes, Apodiformes, Falconiformes, Pelecaniformes, Accipitriformes, Cathartiformes, Strigiform, Caprimulgiformes. The birds identified in the parks are categorized as a minor concern (LC) according to IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) and the red bird book of Ecuador. With the information obtained in the field, a guide to wild birds was made in the parks of the city center, where the family, gender, species and state of conservation are identified. Similarly, the ecological interaction of birds was identified through the recognition of key species where Elanus lectures, Falco spareribs, Tyto alba, Pandion haliaetus which are fundamental daytime and nocturnal raptors to maintain balance in ecological communities, stand out, because they are at the high point of the trophic chain, in addition they are species sensitive to environmental changes allowing them to be used as indicators of the quality of the environment, as well as the presence of Trochilidae as birds that contribute to pollination.

The main objective of this research project was to determine the urban birdlife that is located in the main parks in the city center of the Ibarra canton, Imbabura province in Ecuador.
