Summary:The design initiative of the 'Jardín Api-turístico' in the Cotacachi canton aims to link tourism with beekeeping, thus, the tourist will experience closely the beekeeping biological diversity and its importance in the environment. To put this proposal into operation, it is necessary to apply a basic bibliographical research on the main theme of the proposal, which is beekeeping, from which it follows the importance of bees in our ecosystem and the products offered by the hive that will be the value added in the offer of the proposal, it is also important to search for tourism as a driver of economic and social development, in the same way to reach beekeeping tourism as a trend of active tourism, therefore the methodology and elements of interpretation that facilitate understanding, knowing, classifying and communicating information about beekeeping and ecotourism in the aforementioned canton. In this virtue, the objective of the proposal is to provide an experience of alternative tourism development, it was sought to answer questions that resulted when proposing the proposal: Do we have the possibility of saving the bees and their native flora? How to raise awareness through interpretation? Ecotourism and beekeeping strategic partners? Therefore, to answer the questions raised, qualitative research was carried out, a method that allowed collecting and evaluating key data, through surveys, interviews and observation sheets, to understand the reality of beekeeping tourism. Therefore, and through various interpretive tools that contribute to generating environmental awareness, the proposal focuses on providing tourists with a natural experience, in which they enjoy the interaction between people and the diversity of bee fauna, which marks their visit and leads him to raise awareness about environmental care and conservation.
