| Sažetak: | Biosafety standards are rules and processes established to prevent exposure to infectious agents and protect the health of individuals in environments where biological materials are handled. The main purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and compliance with biosafety measures of the students of the second level of the Higher Technician in Nursing in the Clinical Simulation laboratory practices during the period April-August 2024. To this end, a thorough review of the literature was carried out, and a survey and an observation guide were applied to 42 nursing students who agreed to participate in the research. The design of this study was descriptive, non-experimental, with a quantitative and cross-sectional approach. Among the most relevant results we can mention that more than 70% of the students manage the contents, principles and objectives of biosafety. 62% of those surveyed know the minimum protection barriers for handling contaminated material, and 98% correctly indicated how to eliminate contaminated waste. However, only 43% responded correctly about the use of gloves according to the WHO pyramid. In reference to practice in clinical simulation laboratories, between 70 and 80% failed to comply with most biosafety measures (Use of gown, face masks, cell phones, hand washing, placement of personal protective elements, and waste classification). Likewise, between 50% and 60%, he cleaned the material, work surfaces and used aseptic technique when touching the patient. For all of the above, it can be concluded that although the majority of students have knowledge about biosafety measures when using clinical simulation laboratories, they fail to comply with all biosafety regulations. |
