| Resumo: | This research was conducted with the objective of evaluating the productive parameters in piglets aged 21-44 days, fed with a commercial diet plus supplementation with plantain flour (Musa paradisiaca L) as an energy source. It was carried out in the García Moreno parish, Cotacachi Canton, Imbabura Province, at an approximate altitude of 1200 meters above sea level and an average temperature of 15 to 25ºC. Using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) to evaluate supplementation with different levels of flour inclusion (control 0%, 10%, and 20%), with 24 Landrace x Pietrain piglets, 21 days old, the piglets were randomly distributed in three treatments with four replicates respectively, giving a total of twelve experimental units, with two piglets placed individually (one per pen) so as not to interfere with feed consumption. Data was collected daily to calculate parameters such as weight gain, consumption, feed conversion, and blood glucose, to determine fasting glycemic indices, at one hour and two hours after providing the supplemented feed. These samples were taken every third day until the end of the experiment, in order to evaluate the incidence of the plantain flour supplement on the glucose curve. Finally, to determine the effectiveness of the treatments, an analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed, in addition, the transformation of root, log10 and arc-sine data was carried out, obtaining statistically non-significant results, however, representative numerical differences were observed, highlighting T3 with a higher average weight gain (1,30 kg/8days) as well as T2 with a more efficient feed conversion. |
