In the research carried out, the result was that 73% of caregivers affirm that they do not experience a degree of burden when caring for their family member, while 28% affirm that they do.La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo medir la percepción de la sobrecarga que presentan los cuidadores de personas con discapacidad en el centro de atención terapéutica especializado para personas con discapacidad (CATEPED) , en la provincia de Imbabura en el periodo Abril Agosto 2024, la investigación fue descriptiva de corte transversal, con enfoque cuantitativo donde no se manipulo la variable de estado, la población con la que se contó en esta investigación estuvo conformada por 40 cuidadores, donde el 68% eran mujeres amas de casas las cuales no cumplían con los recursos necesario para dejar el cuidado de su familiar a otra persona, y el 33% eran de género masculino los cuales distribuían su tiempo para dejar el cuidado de familiar algún amigo, para dedicar tiempo a trabajar y así cubrir los gastos de su hogar, la participación fue libre y voluntaria, en donde se les dio el consentimiento informado, donde cada cuidador dio lectura, y si deseaba podía retirarse en cualquier momento de la investigación, el instrumento que se utilizó en la investigación fue el test de Zarit, el cual es una herramienta validada y segura a nivel mundial diseñada específicamente para medir los grados de sobrecarga relativa de cuidadores de personas con discapacidad, este test mide áreas financieras, sociales, de bienestar físico y psicológico, entre otros.
