Резюме:This work arises as a response to the paradigm shift faced by housing units, specifically housing for university students after the COVID-19 pandemic. The research takes place in El Olivo, Ibarra, Ecuador, a neighborhood that harbors students from all over the country who aim to leave their homes and families to continue their higher education. Based on this problem, the project seeks to generate a design of accommodation infrastructure that satisfies physical and psychosocial needs of this group of people and adapts to the contemporary post-pandemic reality. To achieve this goal, a field investigation is carried out with an applied approach, divided into two phases: the application of an urban architectural analysis model in El Olivo and a mixed sequential analysis applied to students who reside in said neighborhood. The urban-architectural analysis model provided a comprehensive diagnosis of the place and the ideal location for the project. Also, a detailed user profile arose from the mixed sequential analysis, which served as a preamble to generate the design criteria. With the terrain and criteria clear, the designing process of the building started. For this, we began by carrying out a comprehensive analysis of the land, generating the architectural program and zoning at the volumetric level. As a result, a 7-story building was obtained consisting of two housing blocks, joined by a central block of community spaces. The property consists of 138 rooms, including singles, doubles, and rooms for people with different abilities. The kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, and laundry rooms are communal. The ground floor functions as a commercial area, and the misused area of land for construction serves as a public space for the enjoyment not only of the inhabitants of the building but also of the members of the community that make up the El Olivo neighborhood.
