Sumari:Ancestral pottery emerges as a tangible treasure rooted in time. In this search to rescue and preserve the legacy of pottery, the objective is to revalue the clay utensils of the Malta Huasi museum through the characterization in INPC cards to preserve the knowledge about the ancestral pottery of the Rinconada community, parish Angochagua. This study adopts a mixed approach, in the same way this investigation provides a type of explanatory research. To collect quantitative data, 66 surveys were applied, with 8 closed questions to the population of Angochagua\; On the other hand, qualitative data was obtained through semi structured interviews using 12 open questions to 7 people, 3 traditional potter men\; 2 traditional potter women\; 1 public official\; and an official geologist from the Imbabura Geopark. Among the main results, it was determined that clay utensils, such as the pot, soup plate, casserole and small pondo, have been prominent in past and present culinary practices. It is concluded that the characterization of the clay utensils of the Malta Huasi Museum in INPC files will not only contribute to the preservation of knowledge about ancestral pottery, but also reaffirms the relevance and cultural meaning of this practice in the community the Rinconada.
