Yhteenveto:Alopecia or hair diseases occupy the second place within the 15 best known in hair conditions in Ecuador. Ecuador is one of the countries with the greatest biological and cultural diversity, medicinal uses play an important role in the well-being of the urban and rural population, for this reason, the practices of ancestral knowledge are the most used therapeutic options in the sectors rural areas of the northern highlands, therefore, the objective of this research was the identification of ancestral plants used for the treatment of hair diseases. The study was carried out in the Community of Angochagua located in the Province of Imbabura, Ecuador. Among the participants there were adults, 22 men and 37 women who had knowledge about medicinal plants. The age range of the male informants was 15 to 85 years, while the women were in an age range of 21 to 78 years. The information was obtained with prior informed consent, in addition, interviews and surveys were conducted, in which the U-PlanMed questionnaire was developed.  Among the results, 3 species of plants and their therapeutic applications in hair diseases were identified. As a conclusion of the investigation, it is found that 80% of the population used medicinal plants for the treatment of hair conditions, the most used being Monnina Crassifolia (Ivilán), Aloe vera (Aloe Vera), Salvia rosmarinus (rosemary).
