Gaia:The objective of this study was to characterize the sustainability at farm level and develop a transition plan as the basis for its agroecological management. The study was carried out in Santa Clara, Pastaza-Ecuador province, the farm plan technique was used, the methodology to assess sustainability in the Ecuadorian Amazon region (MESRAE) and ArcMap 10.3 software to represent current land use. The results analyzed by the general method of description and evaluation of ecosystems indicate that land use mostly corresponds to conservation (55.55%) and pastures associated with scattered trees (37.03%). The socio-cultural, economic and political dimension significantly affect the sustainability of the agroecosystem with a potential sustainability index of 4.77, level 1 agroecological conversion. In this context, the conversion process proposes promoting activities with agro-tourism and marketing approaches, taking advantage of the natural landscape and the environmental potential for the implementation of practices with agroecological bases through technological alternatives analogous to the forest, the strengthening of associativity, the approach with public and / or private institutions that transfer technology and access to credits.
