总结:The research explores the use of hemp in green construction in Ecuador, highlighting its relevance in the context of sustainability and climate change mitigation. With the recent legalization of non-psychoactive hemp, Ecuador opens the possibility of incorporating this material in the construction sector, taking advantage of its properties of rapid renewability, low environmental impact, and ability to act as a carbon sink. However, the development of this industry faces challenges such as a lack of specific knowledge, negative perceptions, a nascent supply chain, and restrictive regulations that hinder its adoption. The research focuses on identifying the technical, regulatory and market barriers that limit the use of hemp as a sustainable and efficient construction material. Among the main problems are the low demand for hemp-derived products under construction, the lack of infrastructure for processing and the need to overcome agronomic challenges to keep THC content below 1%. Additionally, the urgency of developing greater awareness of the benefits of hemp and effective strategies for its promotion and use is addressed. The objective is to promote hemp as a viable and sustainable solution, highlighting its potential to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and contribute to the reduction of environmental impact. The research proposes strategies to increase knowledge and acceptance of hemp among professionals and authorities, including conducting feasibility studies, promoting innovative construction techniques, and implementing favorable regulatory and market frameworks. These actions seek to position Ecuador as a leader in the adoption of sustainable construction practices, aligned with its environmental commitment and its unique biodiversity.
