Yhteenveto:The objective of this study is to use agricultural waste, such as banana leaves, as an additional component in the production of traditional bricks. Traditionally, these leaves are not utilized and end up being discarded in the plantations, so repurposing them in construction could be a sustainable option. The main objective of this work is to see if mixing this organic material with clay can improve or change some properties of the bricks, such as their strength or weight. At the same time, we seek to create a brick that meets all the building standards required today. The research proposed three experimental brick designs that included banana leaves in various percentages (1.5%, 3% and 5%), in addition to the traditional brick used as a reference model. To carry out the study, tests were required to characterize the clay, such as granulometry, specific gravity and volumetric weight, which allowed the knowledge of its properties and the determination of the correct quantities of the mixture. The manufacturing process involved harvesting, drying and crushing of the banana leaves, working out the clay and forming the bricks into test groups. The bricks were then dried in the open air and then baked in an artisanal oven...........
