Descripción
Summary:This research was conducted in the El Dorado neighborhood, Durán, with the purpose of evaluating drinking water quality and designing a domestic filtration system to improve its physical, chemical, and organoleptic characteristics. Surveys were applied to residents to identify their perceptions and needs, and laboratory tests were carried out to measure parameters such as turbidity, pH, apparent color, total dissolved solids, iron, manganese, and residual chlorine. Based on these results, a filter prototype was designed using accessible materials such as gravel, sand, activated carbon, and volcanic rock, modeled in Revit and tested under real conditions. The comparative analysis before and after filtration showed significant improvements, confirming the technical, economic, and social feasibility of the proposal. This study aims to provide a sustainable and replicable solution that contributes to the human right to safe water in communities with deficiencies in water supply services.
