Entre las estrategias de control se han propuesto las tecnologías genéticas, incluyendo los impulsores genéticos, lo que presenta una serie de preocupaciones desde el punto de vista de los derechos ambientales y de la naturaleza, especialmente en un país como Ecuador, donde estos derechos están reconocidos y donde están prohibidos los organismos genéticamente modificados que atenten contra los ecosistemas y el patrimonio genético nacional.
