Summary:The research aims to evaluate the competitiveness of the tourism sector in Riobamba, identifying the factors that influence the performance of local companies. In the methodology, analytical and descriptive approaches are used, using surveys and bibliographic sources to collect information about hotels, bars and restaurants. The results indicate that the quality of services and infrastructure are essential to attract tourists, although challenges are identified in the current offer. In the discussion, the implications of these findings for the sustainable development of tourism in the region are analyzed. It was concluded that the accommodation and bars sector shows a satisfactory level of competitiveness, while restaurants are affected by the environment, which reduces their ability to operate effectively in the market.
