| Zusammenfassung: | This study aims to examine the challenges and opportunities faced by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Commune 13 of Santiago de Cali during their digital transformation process. This sector, marked by high levels of social vulnerability, encounters structural limitations that hinder the adoption of advanced technologies, which are essential for enhancing productivity and competitiveness. The methodology adopted followed a mixed approach, combining a literature review with structured surveys administered to 235 economic units through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The surveys assessed perceptions, preparedness, and barriers related to digitalisation. The collected data were analysed using descriptive statistical techniques and triangulated with qualitative information. The findings reveal that 59% of the enterprises do not utilise ICTs, and only 4% of the workforce possesses a university education. While 75% of respondents perceive technology as accessible, financial constraints, limited infrastructure, and insufficient training in digital skills significantly hinder its adoption. The study concludes that digital transformation necessitates comprehensive strategies that integrate technical training, fiscal incentives, and institutional collaboration to overcome these barriers. Such measures are essential to strengthening the business fabric and bridging the digital divide in vulnerable communities. |
