description The present work begins by answering the question: From what moment did we start to give this group of living cells the value of a person? for each society, each culture, and each religion. Then we analyze the two positions of the debate between the right of woman to be able to decide on her body and the right of the fetus to life, starting from the history of the problem itself up to the current figures of abortions performed, with which we conclude that being something illegal and clandestine, they are usually carried out in unsafe conditions, therefore the decriminalization of abortion is a step not only necessary, but also urgent.
