description Technological development has caused a revolution in humankind. It has been positive sometimes, and in some other cases, it has affected legal assets by using technology to commit illicit conduct or acts that may put at risk vulnerable groups of any given society. That is the reason why, penalizing regulations and law must adapt to new ways of criminality. For example, Ecuador enacted The Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (coip) in 2014, which included several criminal types to sanction new ways of criminal offense through technology. That is the case of the section #173 of the law mentioned above, that protects children and youths welfare jeopardized constantly due to the easy access to ict.2 Therefore, it is important to analyze the legal asset protected from this crime and, the historical background of child grooming too, through comparative law, in order to determine importance within the different bodies of criminal law.
