Sumario:This article presents an ongoing research that investigates a relationship between the tobacco farming families in the south of Brazil and the communication technologies in their daily life. We study the practices and experiences of this social group as they interact with technologies. It aims to decentralize the analysis from one isolated relationship between social actors and the media, observing these relationships intersected by the specific circumstances of the work conditions and social life in the space scope of this study. We present the partial results of two exploratory fieldworks, highlighting that the arrival, in particular, of cell phone and the Internet are changing the family and personal lives.
