Özet:Urbanism must harmoniously integrate nature to develop environmental awareness. During childhood, the city should provide spaces for the child to experience the benefits of interacting with the natural environment. However, contemporary cities offer simulated spaces that privilege consumption and deprive children of contact with nature. Based on ethnographic techniques, this study describes possible relationships between urbanism and environmental awareness, based on observations in 4 artificial spaces of children's leisure and interviews with 15 boys and 16 girls between 6 and 12 years of age in the northern area of Barranquilla, Colombia. The results suggest guidelines for creating an urbanism that teaches children how to protect nature in the future.
