En la era digital el centro de gravedad del poder en la comunicación empezó a desplazarse de la difusión a la producción y, ahora, en un nuevo ciclo, este poder empieza a desplazarse de la producción de contenidos al control de datos sobre los usuarios/receptores. Se propone que la investigación deberá estudiar tanto las rupturas como las continuidades, pero a este análisis se debe añadir otro reto fundamental: saber interpretar las formas de acomodo o adaptación de estas tecnologías a la condición humana y a su contexto social.Será objeto de nossa análise a evolução das comunicações nos últimos 25 anos, tomando como ponto de comparação a transmissão dos Jogos Olímpicos de Barcelona em 1992. Na era digital o centro de gravidade do poder na comunicação começou paulatinamente a se afastar da difusão em direção à produção e, agora, num novo ciclo, desprende-se da produção de conteúdos orientando- -se ao controle de dados sobre usuários/receptores.
