Economic actors and the media. The parliamentary coup to Fernando Lugo (2012)

The Paraguayan coup d'état consummated in Paraguay to the constitutional president Fernando Lugo, in June 2012, highlight the role of the Paraguayan press as a leading actor in the new destitution formats of the region, showing its capacity to solidify a discourse around the senses that came to justify the parliamentary judgment. This work is based on the hypothesis that the hegemonic press, belonging to a highly diversified local bourgeoisie, in order to open a cycle of restructuring of the national economy linked to the new global dynamics of capital accumulation, provided a narrative of the crisis and built the representations and ideology to legitimize the impeachment.
