Sumario:Agave cordillerensis Lodé & Pino, a species previously included in the synonymy of Agave americana L., is reinstated as a distinct species. Morphological descriptions of A. americana and A. cordillerensis, as well as some additional analyses, vernacular names, uses, distribution, keys, and photographs are presented.
