El trasplante de órganos se constituye en un amplio campo de estudio que permite, como si se tratase de un abanico, expandir todo un conglomerado de nociones y principios que van desde la percepción social del sentido de la solidaridad y del altruismo en el gesto de donar un órgano, pasando por una revisión de las disposiciones legales y normativas que regulan la actividad trasplantológica, hasta fijar la atención en la construcción de la subjetividad en las nuevas formas de vida que adoptan las personas a raíz de albergar “otro” órgano al interior de su cuerpo. El presente artículo busca exponer dos consideraciones antropológicas relacionadas a la actividad trasplantológica y sus correlaciones teóricas. En primer lugar, se presenta una descripción conceptual de la Teoría del don propuesta por Marcel Mauss (2009) y su relación con el trasplante; y en un segundo momento se describe la importancia del análisis y el enfoque de la tecnología biopolítica en la técnica biomédica del trasplante.
