Sumari:Scientific journals throughout history have undergone significant changes in their structures, editorial committees, research methodologies and even evaluation systems, which have been necessary to comply with uniformity standards and achieve recognition in national and international repositories. international. Currently, scientific journals are considered the main means of dissemination for academic and scientific activity, publishing a variety of content such as original articles, systematic reviews, statistical analyzes among others. Therefore, the quality and visibility of scientific journals in recognized databases serve to contribute knowledge to professional practice. The current challenges of scientific publication, derived from the development of information technologies and electronic media, the growing demand for spaces to disseminate articles and evaluation systems based on bibliometric indicators, have generated transformations in publication processes worldwide. Faced with these challenges, the need to adopt principles of access to open science, improve editorial policies in accordance with international standards and move towards attractive and affordable digital publication.
