Both elements are understood from a long term perspective with regard to the armed Colombian conflict in the Northern border region; as well as on the background of the formation of security rhetoric in this region. The fundamental hypothesis of this article is that in order to understand the border dynamics it is necessary to look on the overall evolution of global conflicts related to terrorism and anti-drug warfare. |

El autor analiza el conflicto armado colombiano en la zona de frontera colombo-ecuatoriana y su relación con la importancia combinada de la economía ilegal del narcotráfico y los flujos ilegales de armas que alimentan tanto el conflicto armado colombiano como la violencia del narcotráfico. Estos elementos son comprendidos dentro del contexto de largo plazo de evolución del conflicto armado colombiano en la zona de frontera norte; y de la formación de las retóricas de seguridad en la frontera colombo-ecuatoriana.
