Ha habido espacio para las ciencias sociales, aunque subordinadas a otras disciplinas, como el derecho, pero no para las humanidades, a las que se ha negado su lugar, subordinándolas. Si se quiere potenciar a la educación superior ecuatoriana es preciso que la Universidad Central, por su historia, por su localización en la capital del país, por sus vínculos con la sociedad, sea el lugar donde se propongan y se afiancen los objetivos de las transformaciones democráticas de la institución universitaria.
