Editorial: Social Work in Times of Global Crisis

The editorial of the Revista Ciencias Sociales of the Universidad Central del Ecuador analyzes the serious energy crisis in the country, attributing it to neoliberal political decisions that prioritized privatization and fiscal adjustment over long-term investment in the electricity sector. It criticizes the lack of strategic planning, government improvisation and the president's ignorance of the problem, highlighting the negative consequences on the economy, security and social welfare. Finally, a change of course is proposed with greater public investment and planning to overcome the crisis and achieve energy sovereignty
