Shrnutí:The objective of this work is to analyze the consumption of alcohol in the first cycle students of the nursing career of the Bolívar State University (UEB), during the second semester of the year 2018. The method applied is qualitative with a sample of 35 Students selected by observation through a semi-structured interview. Among the results it was found that alcohol consumption is currently very high due to different factors, becoming more prone to adapt this addiction. As part of the discussion, comparing our study with others on the same case, alcohol consumption is the cause for low academic performance, reducing the opportunity to be future professionals. Among the most important conclusions is that despite the numerous health promotion activities related to addiction management and prevention, alcohol consumption continues to enjoy high prevalence in university students, generating personal, family and social problems, which suggests opting for training for the university community.
