總結:This research compares the Basic Food Basket in the urban area of Arica (Chile) with respect to the national Basic Food Basket. The research is justified by the need to improve the accuracy of the Basic Food Basket at the local level, given the limitation of the data from the Family Budget Survey, which is based solely on regional averages. The objectives of the research were to identify the foods in the Basic Food Basket, determine their cost and degree of representativeness, as well as propose a new Basic Food Basket for the city of Arica. The work was carried out under a nonexperimental quantitative approach, using surveys to collect data during a specific period. The conclusions highlight that the Arican Basic Food Basket shares 53.4% of its products with the national Basic Food Basket, with its monetary cost being 20.7% lower. Faced with the proposed hypothesis, it is identified that there are significant differences between the Arican Basic Food Basket and the national Basic Food Basket; The consumption of chicken stands out preferentially compared to the consumption of pork, evidencing an effect due to factors such as geographical location and culture, which influence consumption patterns and the final composition of a Basic Food Basket.
