description The Ecuadorian productive structure has been considered as a primary-exporter characteristic that makes it vulnerable to internal and external factors, which impede sustainable economic growth (ECLAC, 2008). Thus, several public policies have been focused on traditional sectors of the national economy, those that are mainly linked to primary export products. Based on this problem, several development plans focus their strategies on productive sectors that have the greatest influence on the Ecuadorian economy. However, it should be noted that in all these plans the level of the productive chains of each sector is known, but not their influence on their productivity. This is important, since Article 284 of the Constitution of the Republic seeks to “[…] 2. Encourage national production, productivity and systemic competitiveness […]”. This systemic competitiveness depends on interconnections with other sectors. Therefore, it is crucial to identify the sectors of high importance with respect to their linkages and the contribution they can generate in productivity. In this sense, the main objective of this research is to determine the effect that production chains have on the total productivity of the factors of the economic sectors of the Ecuadorian economy, using the theory of networks to characterize the sectoral interrelations through the measures of centrality.

In this sense, the main objective of this research is to determine the effect that production chains have on the total productivity of the factors of the economic sectors of the Ecuadorian economy, using the theory of networks to characterize the sectoral interrelations through the measures of centrality.
