description In recent times, mental illnesses, including anxiety, have gained increasing relevance globally. According to the World Health Organization, anxiety is the most prevalent mental disorder worldwide, affecting approximately 301 million people, and in the case of children aged 8 to 9 years in Ecuador, 42.7% perceive they have anxiety. This article focuses on the analysis between the socioeconomic index and anxiety in 4th grade students during the period 2020-2021. Using the Probit model and the Maximum Likelihood (MLV) method, it has been determined that for every increase of one point in the socioeconomic index, the probability of perceiving anxiety decreases by 20.7%. However, the research highlights that the phenomenon of perceiving anxiety will persist at all levels of the socioeconomic index.
