A repeated measures model was used, and the Toeplitz structure provided the best fit to the data (AIC = 2,452.95; BIC = 2,491.58). The treatments showed significant differences (p < 0.0001), with metaldehyde being the most effective. Although botanical and physical controls also reduced gastropod populations, the botanical extract was more effective than physical in 2023. The study concludes that an integrated management strategy combining different control methods is more effective in reducing S. plebeia populations and minimizing crop damage, especially under reduced tillage systems. |

El fréjol (Phaseolus vulgaris) es una fuente importante de proteína a nivel mundial. Entre sus principales plagas se encuentra el gasterópodo Sarasinula plebeia. Este estudio evaluó la efectividad del control químico, físico y botánico de esta plaga en fréjol variedad voluble. Se aplicaron cuatro tratamientos: metaldehído (0,5 g/planta y 1 g/planta), extracto de ruda y romero, y sal común, bajo un diseño de bloques completos al azar con cuatro repeticiones, en dos ciclos de cultivo (2023 y 2024). Se empleó un modelo de mediciones repetidas, y el modelo de Toeplitz fue el que mejor ajustó los datos (AIC = 2.452,95; BIC = 2.491,58). Los tratamientos mostraron diferencias significativas (p < 0,0001), siendo el más eficaz el metaldehído. Aunque los controles botánico y físico también redujeron la población de gasterópodos, el extracto botánico fue más efectivo que la sal común en 2023.
