description The horticultural belt of La Plata is the most important fresh vegetable producing area in Argentina. In recent decades, the sector's activity has been undertaken by Bolivian immigrants who, although they were farmers in their country, upon arrival learned a commercial horticulture model based on production intensification, mostly using greenhouses and with a high application of agrochemicals, which is environmentally and socially unsustainable. Producers' organizations and public institutions have been promoting agroecological transition processes, facing a series of technical, economic, political and cultural limitations for their widespread adoption. There is also an intergenerational reproduction cycle of the model. Young producers tend to replicate the model learned from their parents and employers. This paper proposes to consider the youth stage of producers as a window of opportunity to reverse this reproduction process and seeks to demonstrate -through a case study- the need to explore the role that young producers could play as potential dynamizing agents of the transition processes currently underway.
