The results show that the engagement in this type of community work is fundamentally influenced by factors such as: ethnicity, spatial land distribution, agricultural credit, industrial agriculture penetration and road infrastructure at the province level. The number of international migrants of the household is not relevant for these aspects. Finally, the probability for a rural home to hire agricultural laborers seems to be strongly connected to ethnicity, credit availability and land spatial distribution. |

Mediante los datos de la Encuesta de Condiciones de Vida 2005-2006, este estudio estima la probabilidad de que un hogar rural ecuatoriano participe en trabajo comunitario, intercambie mano de obra con otros hogares y contrate jornaleros agrícolas. Los resultados demuestran que la participación en trabajo comunitario está fundamentalmente in?uenciada por factores como: la etnicidad, la distribución espacial de las parcelas y la infraestructura vial a nivel provincial. En el caso del intercambio de mano de obra, éste está determinado por variables como la etnicidad, distribución de las parcelas, el crédito agrícola, la penetración de la agricultura industrial y la infraestructura vial a nivel provincial. El número de migrantes internacionales en el hogar no tiene ninguna in?uencia en la probabilidad de que un hogar participe en trabajo comunitario o intercambie mano de obra con otros hogares.
