Crynodeb:The application of geophysical techniques in the investigation of civil works, such as the study of mining tailings dams in all its phases, has been updated in Ecuador with Nº MERNNR-MERNNR-2020-0043-AM AGREEMENT, and its Annex II. A review of them, their usefulness, and the parameters they provide for each part of constructing a mining tailings pond are carried out. A review is also made of those that have been included in the Ministerial Agreement and the possibility of including more techniques than those indicated in said regulations. It concludes with the importance of these techniques in the previous complementary investigation, monitoring during the life and closure of these repositories and the solution of various geotechnical problems. An analysis including more geophysical investigation techniques in this Ministerial Agreement and Ecuador's mining regulations is also recommended.
